11 Cheap Brown Skin Friendly Lipsticks For Fall 2019

11 Brown Skin Friendly Lipsticks For Fall

Finding a lipstick you like is easy enough, but making it work for your skin tone is a whole other battle. This is exactly why I compiled a list of cheap lipsticks that will work for EVERY skin tone.

11 Cheap Brown Skin Friendly Lipsticks For Fall:

  1. Rocket Man by Colourpop
rocket man on 3 different skin tones

We’re starting off with my favorite fall color by colourpop. This liquid lipstick is an ultra matte formula that will never dry your lips out, but if you wanted a lip gloss to put over it I suggest their lip gloss called sookie. It is a dark plum color and pairs perfectly with “Rocket Man”.

2. Limbo by Colourpop

Source: colourpop.com

Behold the best damn nude for brown skin girls. Now, some may not consider this color to be a nude but for me it is a nude. I consider this the epitome of brown skin friendly lipsticks. If you prefer a lighter color nude, I suggest Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs Lip Color in Untainted Spice. If you want any other nude color to look good on your skin tone you can always line your lips with a brown liner. When I put a brown lip liner on, I can make ANY lipstick work for me.

3. Sizzle by Colourpop

Source: colourpop.com

Sizzle is a red/mauve color (as shown above) and you may think this is more of a spring color but you’d be dead wrong. I’ve paired this lipstick with an olive green outfit and it really screamed fall. I’ve also worn this lipstick with a burnt orange eye look and it was the embodiment of a perfect fall makeup look even though it was barely October.

4. Black Out by E.L.F.

Black Out

Now, don’t let the bad swatches dissuade you from buying this liquid lipstick. I rarely wear black on my lips but when I do, I use this one or Black Spell from Milani. If you’re in the mood to have a little fun with colors then I highly suggest this black.

5. Polite Pink by Black Radiance

This lipstick is a win-win-win! Not only is it perfect for your everyday fall makeup look but it is by a black-owned brand AND only costs $2.29! Can it get any better than this? I highly suggest this color if you wanna slay this fall on a budget!

6. Dynamo by Black Opal

Black Opal – Dynamo

This is another black-owned brand that I enjoy. Their lipsticks are rich in pigment, hydrating and only costs $6.95. That’s a steal! A lot of their lip shades work for every skin tone, which is great news for the darker-skinned girls like myself.

7. Ravishing Rose by E.L.F.

e.l.f. Cosmetics – Ravishing Rose

This lipstick is stunning on darker skin tones. This is another lipstick that I would use as an everyday lipstick. It’s a mute color compared to the other ones.

8. Heathers by Anastasia Beverly Hills

Now, don’t kill me, but this one isn’t one you can find in the drugstore per se. You can find it in Ulta for $20.00. I know that may seem like a hefty price tag to pay for one liquid lipstick but you won’t regret it! Not only is the formula hella creamy but mine has lasted me 18 months (after that it should be thrown away)! It’s an ultra hydrating, lightweight formula that is worth the $20.00 price tag.

9. Sarafine by Anastasia Beverly Hills

Once again, there’s another lipstick by ABH that I feel you MUST try. I’m so in love with this color that I literally wear this shade all year. Whenever I wear lipstick, it is either Sarafine, Limbo or Heathers. These are my go to’s for this fall. If you’re wanting to splurge, then I highly suggest this beautiful red lipstick.

10. Matte Fearless by Milani

Matte Fearless

The color “matte fearless” is the second to last one pictured above. The best part about the lipstick is the formula, but it only costs $3.45, which is a wonderful price for an amazing brown skin friendly lipstick if you ask me!

11. Cashmere Cream by BH cosmetics

Credit: bhcosmetics.com

I thought I would put a non matte lipstick in here for the girls that don’t know how to apply a matte liquid lipstick. You know I’m always looking out for ya’ll! 😉 This lipstick is only $4.80 and has a lightweight, highly pigmented formula.

That’s it. That’s my list of 11 Brown Skin Friendly Lipsticks for Fall! I hope you enjoyed, if you want more lists like this, then let me know in the comments.

Until Next Time,

How To Make Money With A New Blog – What Did & Didn’t Work

How To Make Money With A New Blog With Little Experience

Wanna know how to make money with a new blog? Of course you do!

But why should you take advice from me? Well, I made money with a 7-day-old blog and you can too. To be clear, I didn’t make copious amounts of money. I earned exactly $0.37 within 5 days of putting ads onto my website but to be fair that’s A LOT more than I expected. I’m gonna break down what I did, what didn’t work, how to drive traffic, my traffic report and how much I had to invest to earn $0.37. This is my ultimate guide on how to make money from a new blog.

I understand that people normally do these reports monthly, but I was so happy with my results, I had to share them immediately! Enjoy boss babes!

How Much I Invested

I’m sure you can try to start a blog for free, but I knew I wanted this to be a moneymaking blog from the start. When I was doing research, I saw many people recommending a WordPress blog hosted by Bluehost. However, this wouldn’t work for me because a full year subscription costs $71.40. For me, it wasn’t possible to pay that much even though it was a good deal.

So, what did I do? I scoured the internet to find a cheaper option, and I did! I bought a domain with Go Daddy and paid for their full year hosting subscription.

Cost Breakdown

  • Go Daddy Domain: $1.99
  • Go Daddy 1 Yr Host Subscription: $12.00
  • Pinterest Ads: $18.00
  • Pic Monkey Subscription: $7.99/mo

As you can see this is how much I invested into my website. I didn’t buy an online course, didn’t spend a ton of money on promotion, and even though a pic monkey membership costs money, I signed up for a free trial.

Even though I started this Go Daddy blog and earned money quickly, I also made some mistakes which costed me money, time and effort! I originally started my blog on Squarespace. This made making a site very easy, but didn’t give me enough control nor freedom in monetizing it and I figured the costs were too high for me to not be happy with my blog. That set me back $39.00, which was a cost I could’ve easily avoided. 🤡

How To Make A New Blog
How I Made Money With A Brand New Blog – No Experience

Where To Promote & How To Gain Blog Traffic

  1. Facebook Groups/Pages/Ads
  2. Pinterest Boards/Groups/Ads
  3. Instagram Hashtags/Ads/Other Bloggers
  4. Tailwind Scheduler/Tribes
  5. Twitter Posts
  6. Hootsuite
  7. SEO
  8. Commenting on other blogs

If you want more info on how to make money with a new blog, you can go here: www.bloggingbasics101.com/how-can-i-make-money-from-my-blog/

I suggest you go to the website below if you want more promotion methods

Most of the methods above don’t cost a thing; great for those of us trying to save our coin. The ones that helped me gain the most traffic were Facebook blog promotion groups, Tailwind, commenting on blog posts, and Pinterest. Facebook groups bring daily traffic to my blog, so I HIGHLY suggest this one if you get accepted into a group.

If you decide to leave comments on other blogs, PLEASE make sure you actually read the content and leave insightful comments. I also highly suggest commenting on posts similar to yours so you can direct readers to something of yours they’ll enjoy. One thing you always wanna do is make sure you’re spending as much time promoting as you do in writing content.

What Didn’t Work…

So.. what did I try that didn’t work? Well, the first Pinterest ad I bought brought me little to no clicks even though 1,000 people viewed it which didn’t exactly boost my confidence in my blog. I also bought a WordPress plugin that was meant to improve SEO, but was a waste of money.

What did I do to fix these problems? I made my Pinterest ads more vibrant, which resulted in more clicks, saves, and followers! To fix the SEO problem, I installed a free plugin that has improved my SEO incredibly! The free plugin I use is called Rank Math, and it is amazing!

How To Make Money With A New Blog

Now… for the juicy details on how the hell I made money with a 7-day-old blog with no experience and very little blog traffic. It ended up taking only 5 days! 😃 I honestly contribute this to a mix of luck and Facebook blog promo groups. The money I earned was purely from Google Adsense, but I also added affiliate links to appropriate posts. However, I have yet to earn any money from that which I don’t expect for at least another month.

You can sign up for an amazon associate program as a newbie here: affiliate-program.amazon.com

  • Go from 100 to 200 Pinterest followers
  • Start making money from affiliate links
  • Make $20 from Google Adsense
  • Gain 50 Facebook followers
  • Gain 10 Newsletter Subscribers

I’m just as new to this but I wanna show the good, bad and ugly when it comes to starting a blog. It really isn’t easy; It takes time to drive enough traffic to make thousands a month so don’t get discouraged when you don’t see crazy numbers! Every blogger, niche, and audience are different, which means you should NOT compare yourself to other bloggers. If you ever need someone to talk to blogger to blogger, email me!

My Fall Pamper Routine *2019*

Fall is FINALLY here which means it’s time for my 2019 fall pamper routine, hot chocolate, marshmallow scented candles, and bonfires!
If you have a partner, that could mean cuddling up by the bonfire with a cup of hot chocolate. So without further ado, here is my Fall Pamper Routine!
A Peek Into My Fall Routine

My Fall Pamper Routine 2019

1. Shower/Bath

I like to start off my relaxing night by taking a hot shower. I like to use a body wash that has a fall scent to it, or a lavender scented one that is meant for relaxation. After using body wash, I use Dove Body Scrub. This leaves my body feeling baby smooth.

2. Add Some Atmosphere

I like to put some relaxing music on while I’m in the bath. I highly recommend a Chillhop or Lofi playlist on Spotify. It’s incredibly relaxing for me and I can groove to it. To me, it is great music for the season. Along with that, I like to light candles in my room and bathroom.

3. Moisturizing Your Body

Don’t forget this step!!! Hydrating your body is one thing you should never skip out on and is vital to self-care. Part of loving yourself is taking care of yourself and treating your body like the temple it is!

4. Making A Hot Beverage

Now, it’s finally my favorite step in my pamper routine; making hot chocolate or tea. If you have a Keurig, you can plop that K-Cup in right before your bath so it’s ready for you when you get out.

5. Indulge In A Fall Treat

I try to eat quite healthily but Fall means delicious Fall treats and Thanksgiving food. I’m a foodie so, besides the hot chocolate, eating is the best part of my fall pamper routine. Some treats I indulge in during Fall include mint chocolate, Apple pie, ANYTHING peppermint, and caramel popcorn.

6. Netflix & Chillin’

You in a robe, with your hot beverage, and candles lit. This is the perfect environment for some Netflix & Chill time. I prefer to Hulu & Chill but you do you boo! It’s also a good time to spend some alone time with yourself. If you have a partner, this can be a time where you massage each other. However, this pamper routine is meant for those who are single like me.

I hope you will feel relaxed and take on at least one of these steps onto your fall pamper routine.

These 2 Life-Changing Products Will Transform Your Twist Outs FOREVER

When I say these are 2 life changing hair products that will transform your twist outs FOREVER, I mean that! I started using Carol’s Daughter hair products in 2018. There were so many natural hair youtubers recommending them I finally ran out to purchase one. I tested the waters with their hair milk. IT! WAS! LIFE-CHANGING! It really changed my natural hair care routine. I braid my hair on wash day and apply their hair milk; it leaves my hair soft and super curly.

I’m sure everyone has already heard of and used their hair milk though. We’re here to talk about the COCO CREME Curl enhancing moisture butter. This hair cream not only defines my curls but also softens them. I don’t use this product every day; I use this only for when I’m doing twist outs.

For example, if I have just washed my hair and am doing Bantu knots, I apply a dime size amount after I have combed through and applied leave-in conditioner to each section. After combing through it one more time I would then apply Aunt Jackie’s seal it up sealing butter. Both products are thick, so a little goes a long way.

How to make your twist outs last a week:

1. Twist in smaller sections on wet or damp hair

2. Twist with Carol’s daughter Coco Creme with gel or Aunt Jackie’s seal it up sealing butter

3 Leave your twists in for at least a few days instead of a day or two.

4. Wrap your hair before you go to sleep in a satin scarf or bonnet

Make sure you are not using too much product. This will leave your hair feeling heavy and can cause your hair to not dry properly. I used to use so much product on my hair because my hair can be dry, but once I started using the Carol’s Daughter coil enhancing butter, I don’t need to overcompensate with extra product especially when paired with Aunt Jackie’s HYDRATING sealing butter.

Even though the above products when bought together can be on the expensive side they are SO WORTH IT! They both work all hair types but recommended for my lovely ladies with 3a-4c hair. Both products have lasted me a long time, so there is no need to break the bank to get your hair slayed.

Here’s a review from someone who has 4c hair and absolutely adores the sealing butter.

This is the holy grail for moisture absorption, hair clumping without tangling, and defined curls! I’m SICK over how amazing my hair looks PRIOR to me adding the Flaxseed gel! I have 4c hair primarily and 4b at my hairline in the back and at other random places on my head. I’ve been a product junkie and nothing except Ecostyler would define my curls but NEVER on this level!!!

You can purchase the curl enhancement above.

The Seal It Up Butter is available for purchase above.

As you can tell from the review of the Carol’s Daughter review, when I say these are 2 life changing hair products I mean it! I also used these natural hair products to transform my hair from dry, and frizzy to hydrated, and defined. To read that article click on the link below:

Let me know in the comments if you guys want a curly hair routine using these products, along with me showing how long my twist outs last when I implement the above steps. You can buy these wonderful products below. Enjoy ladies!

How To: Get Frizz-Free, Juicy Curls

Honestly, who doesn’t want frizz-free, juicy curls? I have always struggled with perfecting or taming my curls. They never want to act right; They’ll either look frizzy, dry, or down right flat. I remember, in middle school I would go weeks without coming my hair so my curls would be matted. One time, because my hair was so matted and because I was so stressed, I cut a big chunk of my hair out. Yup, true story!

I say all that to say I have been around the block a few times, have tried endless products, and am here to save you all that time and stress. You want to perfect your curls and I’m here to help you do that. I have 3b/3c hair so these are all products that worked for my particular hair type, but I will link products that work on all hair types.

My Wash Day Routine

Hair mask: I wash my hair weekly and use a hair mask whenever I do. I noticed that the hair mask made the biggest difference, so I HIGHLY recommend using a hair mask. The hair mask I use is by Shea Moisture, it’s the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil INTENSIVE HYDRATION TREATMENT MASQUE. It has replenished, revived, and hydrated my hair tremendously.

Shampoo & Conditioner: I once again use the Shea Moisture intensive hydration shampoo and conditioner. These products have worked wonders for my hair and I notice that my ends feel a lot more hydrated.

Twist Out Products:

If you are doing a twist out or are styling your hair, I recommend using Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls. I use this product daily. It is humidity resistant, moisturizing, and leaves curls looking bouncy. This product seems to work on ALL hair types just like all the other products.

I also suggest Miss Jessie’s Honey Curls for the girls with course hair. Now, I’m not gonna lie Miss Jesssie’s can be expensive, so if you want a cheaper alternative I suggest Shea Moisture Coconut And Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Cream. It works for every hair type and is only $9.99!

I hope this has helped you babes! Get those head-turning curls sis! Let me know how these worked out for you!

Skin Care 101: The Ultimate Guide For ALL Skin Types

I hate to be the one to break it to ya, but you’re doing it all wrong! From, washing your face to exfoliating, you’re doing it wrong. Don’t worry though, because your good sis has your back and is gonna make sure you get that glowing, “perfect” skin you dreamed of! Here’s the lesson on skin care 101, the things nobody tells you!

The Right Way To:

  • Wash Your face

I know you’re probably thinking you can’t be washing your face wrong, that’s not possible. It’s hard to believe that such a simple task can be done wrong, but is it really all that simple? This is how you’re doing it wrong, not using a face or baby washcloth and instead using a scratchy washcloth not meant to go on your face. If you’re not washing your hands before washing your face, ya nasty, haha. The right way to wash your face is to wet your face after washing your hands, use WARM water, rinse and repeat, and use the right cleanser for your skin type

  • Use Toner

Toner is a great way to shrink pores and balance the pH of your skin. The way you are using toner wrong is by not applying it between cleansing and moisturizing your face. Don’t use a toner that will dry out your skin, especially if you have oily skin doing this will only make your skin produce more oil. After washing your face, splash cold water on your face then pat dry with a face or baby towel. Then, dampen a cotton pad with the toner and gently wipe it over your face and neck.

  • Moisturize

Moisturizing is another task in the skin care routine that seems super simple, but can be done wrong. There is much more to it than rubbing and repeating. People often underestimate the power of a moisturizer, but using the proper moisturizer will make your skin look plumper and smoother. The right way to moisturize is by using it 15-30 seconds after your toner, using the right one for your skin type, not using oil in place of your cream based moisturizer and making sure you don’t rub it in too hard.

  • Use Serums

Serums or face oils are great for dry skin, but don’t skip out on the serums if you have oily or combination skin. Most people apply their serums after moisturizer; This is NOT what you want to do. Serums especially are meant to penetrate deep into the skin, so make sure there are no barriers like a moisturizer that prevents it from soaking into the skin. Face oils can be used after your moisturizer though as long as you are using the right oil for your skin type.

  • Exfoliate

Exfoliating is just as important as the other steps in your routine. Some people may believe that exfoliating is bad for your skin, when that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The problem is when people over-exfoliate, or use a gritty exfoliator which will do more harm than good. Now, don’t think this means you shouldn’t exfoliate. Not exfoliating can actually stop your skincare from being able to absorb into your skin.

If you want a more in-depth article on skin care products and their uses I highly suggest www.dermstore.com/blog/skin-care-101/

Skin Care can be A LOT, especially when I just told you everything you have done to take care of your skin is wrong. Sorry, not sorry! Haha! Now that we have covered the right way to do things, let’s go over the right products for each skin type.

Let me know my ultimate guide helped you! I sure would’ve appreciated seeing this when I was younger. A lot of the products listed below are for my girls on the budget, because Me Too *raises hand*.

Is Natural Makeup Really Better? 3 Ingredients To Avoid

Every new year you have these plans and resolutions to eat healthily, drink more water, or work out more but one culprit we never contribute to our bad health is makeup. Now, I’m not telling you to never wear makeup, but to instead choose natural options that can give you the same results. Cruelty Free, vegan, or organic makeup is better in comparison to products with all those unhealthy ingredients in them. Here are the 3 ingredients you should avoid and 3 natural products to replace them with. I hope you enjoy babes!

3 Unhealthy Ingredients to Avoid

    1. Parabens are synthetic chemicals used as preservatives in products such as shampoo, deodorant, conditioner, lotion, lipsticks,. if you see methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and isobutylparaben in any product you use, it contains parabens. You may ask yourself why you should be concerned about parabens. Well, The non-profit campaign for Safe Cosmetics reports “Of greatest concern is that parabens are known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to the increased risk of breast and reproductive toxicity.” For more information: www.scientificamerican.com/article/should-people-be-concerned-about-parabens-in-beauty-products/
    2. Siloxanes Siloxanes are silicone-based compounds that are generally used for their softening, smoothing, and moistening action. They are found in products like deodorant, foundation, face primer and are known for leaving skin more soft and silky. There are two common types of siloxanes known as D4 and D5. “They are toxic, persistent, and have the potential to bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms – meaning it is nearly impossible to destroy and can build up in the fatty tissues of marine animals like fish when exposed to the aquatic environment.”Similar to parabens, D4 has been known to interfere with human hormone function, which in turn decreases fertility and reproductive health. D5 when in high doses has been found to cause uterine tumors and may influence neurotransmitters. Here’s what to look for: Dimethicone, Decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, Amodimethicone, Cylcotresiloxane, Cylcopentasiloxane, Cylcohexasiloxane, Cyclomethicone.Source for quote: www.reflectionsorganics.com/pages/how-to-know-if-your-makeup-is-toxic
    3. FormaldehydeYes, Formaldehyde. It’s hard to believe that any of these three chemicals have been found in products that we use on a daily basis. So what is Formaldehyde exactly, and why is it used?Well, Formaldehyde is used as a preservative in makeup, skincare, and nail care products. It is a known carcinogen that is linked to asthma, neurotoxicity, and developmental toxicity.
Look for DMDM hydantoin, Imidazolidinyl urea, Diazolidinyl urea, Quaternium- 15, Bronopol, 5-Bromo-5-nitro 1, Hydroxymethylglycinate

3 Natural, “Healthier” Replacements

  1. Replacement for parabens in lipstick: I personally suggest Bite Beauty. They are an all-natural, cruelty-free lipstick company. Their lipsticks are pigmented and don’t leave your lips dry. You can buy their products from Sephora, Macy’s, Amazon, Beautylish, etc..Website: www.bitebeauty.com/
  2. Replacements for siloxane in foundations:The one i recommend is by !00% Pure and it is called the Fruit Pigmented Full Coverage Water FoundationThe ONLY drawbacks are the price and shade range. They currently only carry 19 shades, but I was able to find my shade perfectly fine as a Black woman. Where to Buy: www.100percentpure.com/products/fruit-pigmented-healthy-foundation
  3. Replacement for Formaldehyde in shampoo:Carina Organics Non-Toxic ShampooThis product is 100% vegan, sulfate-free, 100% natural, made with organic ingredients. They also offer an “extra gentle” formula for babies. You can get this awesome shampoo for $9.99 on their website.

How To Get Glowy Skin For FREE

Take it from me, I know it can be hard sometimes to rock the skin you were born with or to feel comfortable without makeup. If you suffer from severe acne, dark spots, or scars I hope these tips can help you. if you want to know how you can get glowy skin for FREE, then continue reading.

  1. Understand that your skin will NEVER be “perfect” Your skin may very well not be where you want it to be in this particular moment but I want you to refrain from hating your skin. Self loathing isn’t good for anyone! How can you work towards loving yourself if you don’t at the very least appreciate or respect yourself?
  2. Understand that your skin is forever changingOne day you may wake up with 10 different pimples and dark circles but it’s important not to get discouraged. Don’t think that your skin will stay like that forever or that this is a permanent state because I can guarantee you that it is not. if anything, let this encourage and motivate you to stay on your routine.
  3. DON’T compare yourself to instagram models or ”baddies”This obviously doesn’t just apply to instagram models but to people in general. Whether it’s the lady down the street or a Victoria’s Secret model you don’t know their skin care journey so don’t compare your skin to theirs.
  4. Diet & Rest play a bigger role in your skin than you may thinkI know this can be hard and there will be some nights you’ll want to stay up until 5 AM to binge watch Netflix and eat junk food (me)! This obviously isn’t healthy and it certainly won’t do your skin any favors. Even if you do have those nights, make sure you drink a lot of water the next morning and eat lots of whole grains and green vegetables.
  5. Start your day with some positivityThis could mean morning affirmations or a 5 minute meditation session to clear your mind. Whatever helps you start your day off happily and with positive energy, make that apart of your daily routine. If you’re not really sure where to start or how to begin meditating here are some links. alifeofproductivity.com/meditation-guide/ positivewordsresearch.com/apps-promote-positivity/

My Morning Skin Care Routine (Step-by-Step Guide)

  1. Meditate for 5 minutes
  2. Drink a liter of water or a fruit smoothie
  3. Wash my face with philosophy purity face wash
  4. Moisturize my face with CeraVe face moisturizer
  5. Use Burt’s Bees Herbal Complexion Stick
  6. Finish off with Tarte Face Serum I normally use Curology to remove any blemishes or zits that have recently made their appearance and they are usually gone by the next morning. You can get a free trial by using this link below. (This link is not affiliated with me any way. )app.curology.com/auth/welcomeI hope this list has helped you!
